"Today, Quantum is not only expanding its Snap Server family but also its sales channel. Through an aggressive OEM program, we will uncover markets via companies offering unique channel and product roll-out strategies," said Anders Axelsson, vice president and general manager for Quantum's Server Appliances Division. "Dell is committed to delivering a breadth of storage solutions that address the data sharing requirements of our customers at every level," said Russ Holt, vice president and general manager of Dell PowerVault Storage Products. "The market leadership and technology advantage of Quantum's NAS product coupled with Dell's system and service capabilities will make this the ideal product for the file serving needs of small business enterprises and corporate workgroup environments." According to a recent study conducted by PC Data, Quantum currently has 85 percent market share in the workgroup NAS market (Distribution Hardware Report, July 2000). To maintain its leadership status, Quantum will work closely with its current and future partners to develop new strategies and products designed to grow opportunities within the NAS marketplace. Snap Server Product Family The Quantum Snap Server product series now includes the Snap Server 1000 15GB ($499) and 30GB ($799), and the Snap Server 2000 60GB ($1,699) which are designed in a desktop configuration. The Snap Server 4100 120GB ($2,999) and 240GB ($4,499) are rack mountable units.(1) About Quantum Founded in 1980, Quantum Corporation (www.quantum.com) is the world's leading storage supplier in six of the seven markets it serves: desktop hard disk drives, tape drives, network attached storage (NAS) appliances, solid state systems, hard disk drives for the emerging personal video recorder (PVR) market, and DLTtape(TM) automation systems. Quantum is also a leading supplier of high-end hard disk drives. In 1999 Quantum became the first Silicon Valley company to issue tracking stock, replacing its existing common stock with the ticker symbols DSS and HDD, which track the separate performance of the company's DLT and Storage Systems and Hard Disk Drive businesses. Both stocks are traded on the New York Stock Exchange. Selling its products through OEM and distribution channels worldwide, sales for the fiscal year ending March 2000 were $1.4 billion for Quantum's DLT and Storage Systems Group and $3.3 billion for Quantum's Hard Disk Drive Group.
