Quantum Announces OEM Agreement With Dell for the Snap Server Product
Line

JOSE, Calif.--Quantum Corporation's DLT and Storage Systems
Group today announced the company's first OEM agreement to supply
Snap Server products to Dell Computer Corp. A 120GB, 1U product
for rack or desktop environments with RAID 5 capabilities is the
first product from Quantum's Server Appliances Division to be supplied
under the OEM agreement, and will be sold under a separate product
name by Dell. Quantum looks to broaden the reach of its Snap Server
storage solution with a series of technological alliances with companies,
such as Dell, that are committed to increasing category awareness

Market Flat from 1Q, Personal Workstation Market Hurt by RDRAM Memory
Shortages, According to IDC
FRAMINGHAM, Mass., Aug. 17 -- In 2Q00, total branded workstation
shipments (Unix plus Windows NT) were 409,123 units, down 4% from
the previous quarter. The branded Windows NT workstation market fell
7%, while the Unix workstation market was up about 3%. Since most
vendors shipping NT- based systems are entering the third quarter
with substantial backlogs, barring huge memory shortages, IDC believes
growth should be good during the second half of the year. more

Double-Digit Growth in Second Quarter 2000
SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug. 2, 2000 -- The worldwide server and workstation
industries posted double-digit growth rates in the second quarter
of 2000, with increases of 11 percent and 14 percent, respectively,
according to preliminary statistics by Dataquest Inc., a unit of Gartner
Group, Inc. (NYSE: IT and ITB). Worldwide server shipments reached
955,412 units in the second quarter, and workstation shipments totaled
440,463 units. more
