SAN
JOSE, Calif., Aug. 14 -- Canopus Corporation today announced the availability
of DVStation for DVCPRO. DVStation, an all-in-one DV editing workstation
that combines the company's DVRaptor capture board and editing software
with a lightweight, highly portable PC, now supports Panasonic's professional
video format, DVCPRO.
Priced at $4,599, DVStation for DVCPRO is an affordable solution for
video professionals who want to get the most from their DVCPRO devices.
DVStation for DVCPRO delivers professional features previously found
only in high-priced editing systems including high-speed rendering,
frame-accurate camera and deck control and high-quality filtering and
image enhancements.
DVStation for DVCPRO also includes Adobe Premiere 5.1 (full version)
and special effects and soundtrack creation software.
DVStation's 700 MHz Pentium III CPU, 128MB of RAM, 15" integrated LCD
display and 30GB of storage allow users to simply plug in their DV or
Digital8 camera and begin editing. DVStation's small size (7" deep x
15" tall x 15" wide), low weight of less than 20 pounds, and convenient
handle for one-handed carrying, make it an ideal portable editing solution.
Combine this portability with Canopus' streaming module (which will
be available free to users later this month) to turn DVStation into
a mobile Internet streaming workstation. DVStation includes a 10BaseT
network interface for easy network configuration.
"Support for Panasonic's Emmy Award-winning DVCPRO format makes DVStation
an even more attractive solution for industry professionals who need
a portable, all-in-one NLE," said Hiro Yamada, president
and CEO of Canopus Corporation. "Add to that our simple, yet powerful
batch capture and editing software, which makes editing a snap, and
you have a system that truly liberates video professionals."
At the heart of the DVStation is Canopus' DVRaptor for DVCPRO capture
board. DVRaptor for DVCPRO offers advanced features such as full-motion,
full-screen preview (through an S-video or composite connection to the
DV camcorder) and seamless batch capture of long video segments (greater
than 20 minutes) with frame accurate control. RaptorEdit and RaptorNavigator
editing and cataloging software are included in DVStation to make capture
and editing quick and easy.
RaptorEdit is a robust nonlinear video editor with real-time "assemble"
and "insert" editing functions and near-real-time transition and title
rendering. RaptorEdit offers a drag-and-drop interface, real-time video
and audio scrubbing, four-channel DV audio support and fast rendering
times.
RaptorNavigator is a cataloging utility that automatically scans tapes
and creates a clip catalog. Users arrange clips in the catalog then
batch capture the needed clips.
For special effects and soundtrack creation, Canopus is including Canopus
SoftXplode and Sonic Desktop Software's SmartSound. Users can incorporate
3D transitions and effects from SoftXplode's collection of over 200
preset transitions. SoftXplode was designed specifically to make it
easy for users to add transitions and effects to their video productions.
To create soundtracks, SmartSound provides a simple interface and a
collection of Royalty-Free music and sound effects.
DVStation for DVCPRO is available now through authorized dealers for
a suggested retail price of $4,599. For a list of these dealers contact
