Dell Inspiron 5000ROUND ROCK, Texas, Aug. 22, 2000 -- Dell (Nasdaq:DELL) today announced the Inspiron 5000e notebook PC with Ultra XGA (UXGA) display, a 15-inch screen that provides exceptional graphics quality for DVD playback and graphic-intensive applications. The large screen size and increased pixel density deliver an increased viewing area to display more content with higher resolution and less scrolling.

"With the Ultra XGA display, Dell is the first computer manufacturer to offer notebook computer users a sharper, more immersing experience," said Brad Blietz, Inspiron marketing director. The Inspiron 5000e measures 1.5 inches thin and weighs 6.75 pounds. Prices start at $1,899 for an Inspiron 5000e equipped with a 600-MHz Intel Mobile Celeron processor, a 14.1-inch XGA display, 64MB of RAM, and a 6 GB hard disk drive. The Inspiron 5000e features the following cutting-edge technology:

-- Screen options including 14.1- and 15-inch SXGA screens, 14.1- and 15-inch XGA screens and the 15-inch Ultra XGA screen for lifelike images and razor-sharp graphics
-- ATI Rage Mobility 128 video card with full AGP support and 16 MB of video RAM
