3dfx logoSAN JOSE, Calif., -- 3dfx Interactive Inc. today announced that worldwide volume shipments have begun for the company's new Voodoo4 4500 AGP and Voodoo4 4500 PCI 3D graphics accelerators. The arrival of these products on retail shelves is imminent, with availability of new computer systems equipped with the 4500 products to follow shortly thereafter.

Voodoo4 4500 is the latest product in the Voodoo graphics accelerator family to offer 3dfx's full scene anti-aliasing (FSAA) for mainstream computer users. FSAA is a 3D graphics rendering process that eliminates visual artifacts such as jagged edges, moire patterns and pixel popping, rendering problems commonly seen on competitive products. The result of utilizing the Voodoo FSAA technology is a much more realistic 3D-rendered image. Voodoo4 4500 combines outstanding raw performance with superior visual realism across a multitude of titles.

"Voodoo products deliver better visual quality, across more titles, at the highest possible frame rates," said Byran Longmire, vice president of graphics at 3dfx Interactive. "Voodoo4 is the product that makes it possible for everyone to instantly upgrade their PC's image quality through FSAA with an affordable, reliable solution from the most recognized name in graphics."

"Voodoo4 4500 delivers great performance with the same rock-solid reliability and unsurpassed compatibility that consumers have come to expect from 3dfx products, all at an incredible price," said John Gunn, vice president channel sales at 3dfx Interactive. "The unique features of the Voodoo4 4500, combined with 3dfx's past record of success in this product category, give us great optimism for the prospects of the Voodoo4 4500."
