Borland logoSCOTTS VALLEY, Calif., -- Inprise/Borland today announced Borland JBuilder 4, the latest version of its a pure Java cross-platform development environment. JBuilder 4 supports Enterprise Java Bean (EJB) 1.1 compliant development on Windows, Linux, and Solaris platforms.

JBuilder 4 streamlines the concurrent management of source code for large distributed teams while extending existing source code management across the Internet. "E-commerce applications often require collaboration of different teams in the development cycle and that's where JBuilder's integrated and scalable team development environment comes into play," said Juergen Fesslmeier, JBuilder product manager.

JBuilder 4 adds new features to its pure Java visual two-way designers, wizards, and the integrated debugger. Specific JBuilder 4 feature enhancements include:

  • New visual two-way-tools, designers, and wizards such as the entity Bean modeller that shorten the development and deployment of e-business applications.
  • Build dynamic, data-driven Web applications using new InternetBeans, JSP and servlets
  • Support for the latest Java 2 version 1.3 with built in support for the Sun Java HotSpot Virtual Machine to boost performance
  • JDataStore 4 pure Java Object Relational Database Management System for Web, mobile and embedded applications
  • Remote debugging for debugging Java application remotely on Windows, Linux, and Solaris or any platform that supports Java 2 JPDA, such as HP-UX, AIX, Tru64

JBuilder 4 is tightly integrated with the Borland Application Server and now offers support for BEA's WebLogic server, providing enterprise customers with a flexible and scalable end-to-end solution for e-business computing. Users can seamlessly run and debug EJBs and CORBA applications locally or remotely in the JBuilder environment and deploy EJB instantly without shutting down the application server.
