gravityStorm logoSAN DIEGO, -- Gravity Storm Software announced today the release of Service Pack Manager 2000. It allows an IT professional to remotely detect, track, monitor, and install Windows NT/2000 Service Packs and Hotfixes on the enterprise networks from a central console. The new release fully supports Windows 2000 Service Packs and Hotfixes. The new version comes shortly after the release of Win2K Service Pack 1 by Microsoft, and will assist Windows 2000 acceptance by large and mid-size companies. It significantly reduces the deployment costs of Windows 2000 upgrades.

With enhanced "LiveUpdate" feature, users are instantly updated in real-time with the latest information on the availability of new Service Packs and Hotfixes, including security related patches.

Service Pack Manager 2000 emphasizes the importance of maintaining the security of Windows NT/2000:

  • -- It allows IT professionals not only to remotely detect the OS encryption level, but also to "push" Windows 2000 High Encryption Pack to the target machines on the network.
  • -- With the Hotfix Profiler feature, it allows users to test the selected networked computers, domains, and entire networks against pre- defined or user-defined groups of Hotfixes, including security and Y2K related profiles.

Service Pack Manager 2000 allows users to install Hotfixes related to other products, like Microsoft Internet Explorer and Outlook security patches. This additional capability utilizes the facility of User-Defined Hotfixes, that was introduced in the previous releases, and further enhanced in the current version.

Service Pack Manager allows users to download Service Packs and Hotfixes directly from Microsoft web sites, and remotely install them on the networked computers. The installation on remote computers is unattended and does not require presence or assistance of the remote users.

Service Packs and Hotfixes can be installed on multiple remote computers simultaneously and do not require any agents to be pre-installed on the remote targets.

Service Pack Manager 2000 allows instant viewing of detailed Service Pack and Hotfix information through its streamlined User Interface and embedded Web Browser. It works on multi-domain networks across LANs and WANs.
