infinilink logoIRVINE, Calif.--Infinilink Corp., a developer of self-configuring DSL equipment (CPE), Thursday announced the release of the i500, an external Ethernet ADSL modem. Designed for small- to medium-sized businesses and even home office use, the i500 can be configured as a bridge or router.

The i500 features an embedded processor which implements all ATM and protocol encapsulation software functions allowing it to provide an "always on" connection for network ready PCs. The i500 offers a higher level of performance than typical PCI-based DSL modems because its functions will not consume or expend any CPU time from the connected PC.

The i500 is compatible with Infinilink's dsl-ON(TM) auto-configuration software. dsl-ON(TM) makes it possible to rapidly deploy DSL hardware on a national -- not regional basis across multiple telephone company networks for the first time.

dsl-ON(TM) is targeted at computer manufacturers, ISPs, ASPs, LECs and DSLAM manufacturers. Field trials for dsl-ON(TM) begin this month.

Compliant with all current industry standards, the i500 supports connections at up to 8Mbps with telcos and service providers using G.dmt and T1.413i2 standards. It also provides full G.lite (1.5Mbps) compliance including fast retrain(1) for the services most frequently supplied to homes and small offices. Telephone companies and service providers will find that the i500 works with whatever standards they have deployed.

With a suggested retail price of $349, the i500 is available immediately for use with all recent Microsoft(R) Windows releases including Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, and Windows NT4. Additional future support includes Linux and MacOS.

About Infinilink Corp.

With offices in two locations, Infinilink maintains its headquarters at 184 Technology Drive, in Irvine, Infinilink is in the business of developing high speed digital communications and networking products for residential and small business applications, and marketing those products to ISPs, ASPs, LECs, DSLAM manufacturers, computer manufacturers, and other computer industry OEMs.

Infinilink's current product line includes the i500 multi-mode ADSL router and the i200 full-rate ADSL modem, both of which operate at up to 8Mbps, almost 150 times as fast as a 56Kbps modem.

Earlier this year, the company released its first product, the i150 G.lite ADSL Modem. Infinilink's product line allows users to simultaneously make calls, send faxes, or transmit data using an analog modem while connected to ADSL service on the same line.

The company recently announced field trials for its dsl-ON(TM) software, which makes it possible to rapidly deploy DSL hardware on a national -- not regional -- basis across multiple telephone company networks for the first time. dsl-ON(TM) is targeted at computer manufacturers, ISPs, ASPs, LECs and DSLAM manufacturers.
