ATLANTA, Nov. 12, 1999 -- American Megatrends Inc. (AMI), an industry leader in supplying multiprocessor server motherboards and basic server solutions, today announced the release of MegaDual, a Dual Pentium III Slot 1 motherboard with CPUs @ 133 MHz Front Side Bus (FSB).

MegaDual, an ideal server motherboard solution for departmental environments, supports up to 4 GB of on-board ECC SDRAM system memory. Featuring six PCI slots (two 64-bit, 66 MHz), on-board dual channel 160/m SCSI and on-board Wake-on-LAN support, the MegaDual also includes an Intel 840 chipset, two peer-to-peer PCI buses, one 32-bit PCI bus @ 33 MHz, one 64-bit PCI @ 66 MHz and an AGP PRO 4X connector.

MegaDual's system slots total seven, including one AGP Pro, four 32-bit PCI at 33 MHz and two 64-bit PCI at 66 MHz. It can also be integrated in standard extended ATX cases.

MegaDual supports AMI's MegaRAID Express 000 upgrade card, which enables two on-board SCSI channels to be converted to high-performance RAID channels. The zero-channel controller has the lowest cost migration to RAID without duplicating or losing existing resources and can use standard AMI MegaRAID drivers and utilities.

MegaDual's server management features include GP NVRAM, server management hardware and software. GP NVRAM features BIOS post code, system boot, event logs, CPU temperature, FAN and ECC history and chassis fan and temperature history. Hardware includes a SMBus controller embedded in ICH, a Watchdog Timer, one LM78 controller and support for AMI's MegaRAC. Software includes AMI Server Manager (ASM) and AMI Desktop Client Manager (ADCM) for Windows NT Server Management, AMI's Supervisor for WEB-based management and MegaDual's SNMP Agent.
