Here is a listing of systems that were announced or planned in the wake of the Intel Coppermine Pentium III announcements earlier this week. It is by no means complete, but gives a good sample of the kinds of desktops and workstations planned by the top manufacturers for release over the next few months.

AST
AST Premmia PS minitower and AST Premium 2000 server can be configured with the new Intel Pentium III 650 and 700MHz processors. The AST Premmia PS features a choice of Intel Pentium processors from the new Pentium III 700MHz to the Pentium II 400MHz; support for up to 768MB SDRAM; up to 28.5GB hard drive; choice of CD, CDR-W, and DVD-ROM drives; modem and networking options; up to four expansion slots; and a choice of factory-installed operating systems and software. The AST Premium 2000 is a scaleable, dual-processor capable server with advanced manageability features. The AST Premium 2000 server supports up to two Intel Pentium III processors from 700MHz to 450MHz; up to 2GB SDRAM; up to 216GB hard drive storage; two accessible front bays for choice of removable backup media devices; total of 7 slots - 1 ISA, 4 33MHz and 2 66MHz PCI; and a choice of operating systems - Windows NT Server 4.0, Back Office Small Business Server 4.5 or OpenLinux 2.2.

COMPAQ
Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ) has announced availability of two new Professional Workstations, the AP550 and the SP750. In addition, Compaq announced the new Deskpro Workstation AP240 and an upgraded version of the AP400.

The AP550 is an aggressively priced yet powerful one- or two-processor platform with a 133 MHz front side bus in a convertible chassis design that allows the user to configure the system as either a desktop or a tower by simply rotating the disk drives. AP550 features: 733 or 600EB MHz Intel Pentium III processor and Intel 840 Chipset with Scalable Bandwidth Technology; PCI and AGP Pro 4X; up to 2 GB of either ECC RDRAM (RAMBUS) or ECC SDRAM; 9 or 18 GB Ultra3 SCSI (10,000 rpm); Ultra ATA/66 hard drives also available; integrated Ultra3 SCSI and Ultra ATA/66; support for an array of graphics solutions. The AP550 is priced beginning at $3,329.

The SP750 is a dual processor-capable, Intel Xeon system with a 133MHz front side bus. SP750 features: 733 or 667 MHz Intel Pentium III Xeon Processors and full-featured Intel 840 Chipset with Scalable Bandwidth Technology supporting 64-bit PCI technology; dual memory channels; dual-peer PCI buses; dual SCSI channels; 64-bit/66 MHz PCI, 32-bit/33 MHz PCI; AGP Pro 4X; up to 4 GB (when 288 MB technology is available) of 600 or 800 MHz ECC RDRAM (RAMBUS); 9 or 18 GB Ultra3 SCSI (10,000 rpm; integrated Dual Channel Ultra3 SCSI and Ultra ATA/66; support for AGP 4X graphics and an array of leading high-performance graphics solutions. The SP750 is priced beginning at $4,222.

The AP400, now available with the Intel Pentium III 700 MHz processor, is an affordable dual processor-capable system. It is based on the Intel 440 BX chipset and comes standard with 128 MB ECC SDRAM (up to 1GB), 9 GB Wide-Ultra SCSI (7200 rpm) hard drive, and support for the Matrox Millennium G200, the ELSA Synergy II, and the Matrox Productiva G100 Quad MMS graphics controllers. It is priced beginning at $2,895.

The AP240 Deskpro Workstation effectively bridges Deskpro commercial PCs with Compaq Professional Workstations. It begins with an entry-level workstation configured with a single 700 MHz Pentium III processor and comes standard with 128 MB SDRAM (up to 768 MB), 9 GB Wide Ultra2 SCSI (7200 rpm) hard drive, and the ATI Rage Pro graphics solution. Prices start at $2,645.

Compaq will also deliver Deskpro Workstations models that will support RAMBUS memory architecture upon availability of the associated Intel 820 chipset technology.

The Compaq Deskpro EN and EP series will utilize the new Pentium III chips with either the 810E or the 440BX chip set. A Deskpro EN with a 667MHz Pentium III processor and the 810E chip set will cost about $1,949 when configured with 64MB of RAM, a 13.5 GB hard drive and a 17-inch monitor.

DELL
The mid-range Dell Precision WorkStation 410 and entry-level Dell Precision WorkStation 210 are available with 650MHz and 700MHz Pentium III processors in single- and dual-processor configurations, currently using the Intel 440BX chipset. Prices for a Dell Precision WorkStation with the new 650MHz Pentium III processor start at $2,100. Dell also announced plans to offer Dell Precision WorkStations in the future based on the Intel 840 chipset.

Dell Dimension desktops will be offered with the new 600EMHz, 650MHz, 700MHz Pentium IIIs and the 440BX chip set.

The Dell OptiPlex GX110 desktop takes advantage of the low-cost 810E chip set from Intel and will offer the 533MHz and 600MHz "EB" Pentium III chips along with 667MHz and 733MHz Pentium IIIs. With a 533MHz EB Pentium III, 64MB of RAM, a 6.4GB hard drive and a 15-inch monitor, the desktop will start at $1,199. A model with the 667MHz Pentium III, 64MB of RAM, a 13.6GB hard drive and a 17-inch monitor will cost about $2,110.

DTK
The entry-level DTK Grāfika 550 NT Workstation is available in single- and dual-processor configurations with Intel Pentium III processor at 733MHz, 667MHz, 600EB MHz, 600B MHz, 533EB MHz, and 533B MHz with 133MHz front side bus. Designed around the Intel 840 chipset, the Grāfika 550 NT Workstation delivers a powerful foundation for demanding workstation environments. Prices for the Grāfika 550 NT workstation with the new Intel Pentium III processor will begin as low as $1,800.

GATEWAY
Gateway now offers the newest Pentium III processor at speeds of 600 and 700MHz, using the 440BX, in its Gateway Performance line starting at $2,099 and in the GP-Series desktop line starting at $1,649.

HP
The HP Kayak XU800 PC Workstation offers the combination of Intel's new Pentium III 600MHz, 667MHz or 733MHz processors -- all with 133MHz front side bus -- with the new 840 chipset. Additionally, the newest member of the HP Kayak PC Workstation family includes dual-processing capabilities, 32-bit and 64-bit PCI bus adapter card slots for the highest I/O throughput and Ultra160 SCSI or optional Ultra2 SCSI controllers for fast information access. The HP Kayak XU800 also includes support for a range of top-of-the-line 2-D and 3-D graphics solutions. Estimated U.S. street prices begin at $2600, and the HP Kayak XU800 PC Workstation is scheduled to begin shipping by the end of the year.

The HP Vectra VEi8 corporate PC, powered by Intel's new Pentium III 600MHz processor and 100MHz front side bus, and using the Intel 440BX chipset, is designed to provide software-image stability throughout its long product lifecycle. The HP Vectra VEi8 includes 64MB SDRAM, a 13.5GB hard-disk drive, 48X CD-ROM and Microsoft Windows 95 (with a Windows 98 recovery CD) for an estimated U.S. street price of $1499. It is slated to begin shipping by the end of the year.

The HP Pavilion 8595c PC, powered by an Intel Pentium III 733MHz processor and the Via Apollo Pro chipset, includes 128MB SDRAM, a 32GB Ultra DMA hard-disk drive, an HP CD Writer Plus CD-RW drive, an 8X DVD drive, a NVIDIA Vanta TNT2 3-D AGP graphics card, a 10/100baseT networking card, a V.90 56K modem and HP's one-touch Internet keyboard. The HP Pavilion 8595c PC is expected to be available in mid-November for an estimated U.S. street price of $2,399.

IBM
The new IBM IntelliStation M Pro features new Intel Pentium III processors running at speeds up to 733 MHz, with a new 133 MHz front side bus. The IntelliStation M Pro features dual channels of 1.6 gigabytes each, while the 4X AGP Pro 50 doubles bandwidth and power to the graphics adapter. The IntelliStation M Pro was designed with the Intel 840 chipset to support up to 2 gigabytes of high-performance Rambus ECC memory. This means the extremely large amounts of data required in these applications have lots of room in memory, simplifying and streamlining the ability to manipulate them in real-time. The new IntelliStation also features a high-speed ATA-66 disk drive interface. The IntelliStation M Pro has been tested and fine-tuned for compatibility with a wide array of graphics cards, including the Intense3D Wildcat 4110, the IBM Fire GL1, the Matrox Millennium G400 and Appian Gemini.

New models of the IBM PC 300PL and PC 300GL desktop computers also include Intel's latest generation Pentium III processors at speeds of 533EB MHz, 600EB MHz, 667 MHz, and 733 MHz and using VIA Technologies Apollo PRO 133 chip set. The PC 300 models include the 133 MHz front side bus, 64 or 128 megabytes of memory, AGP 2X or AGP 4X graphics, and up to 27 gigabytes of hard disk space. Estimated reseller prices for the new models announced today (without monitor) start as low as $2,775 for the IBM IntelliStation M Pro with Pentium III, 600 MHz; $1,279 for the IBM PC 300GL with Pentium III, 533 MHz; and $1,429 for the IBM PC 300PL with Pentium III, 533 MHz.

INTERGRAPH
Intergraph's new Zx1 and Zx1 Rackmount ViZual Workstations, as well as its InterServe 90 servers, now support Intel's new Pentium III 700 MHz processor in both single and dual processor configurations. Intergraph's new Zx1 ViZual Workstation is powered by single or dual Pentium III 700 MHz processors with 100 MHz front side bus (FSB). The Zx1 ViZual Workstation is also now available with Intense3D's Wildcat 4110 3D graphics. The new Zx1 ViZual Workstation is available immediately from authorized Intergraph Computer Systems' value-added resellers, starting at $3299.

The Zx1 Rackmount ViZual Workstation will be available later in the fourth quarter. The Intergraph InterServe 90 uses the Intel 440BX AGP set, and supports dual CPU configurations, an 800 MB/sec memory bus, and 1 GB memory for excellent application performance. Single or dual processor configurations support up to 512 KB cache/processor. The system also supports 400 or 450 MHz Pentium II processors for flexible, affordable system configuration options. The 100 MHz front-side bus provides 800 MB/sec bandwidth for fast I/O performance and ensures scalability in 2-way configurations. Four hot-swap drive bays provide 72 GB disk capacity. An Ultra2-Wide LVD RAID Interface with high-performance SCSI technology provides the fastest RAID implementation available today. Optional external Ultra2 LVD storage options allow up to 1.3 TB of storage using the latest high-performance 18 GB hard drives.

The InterServe 90 is available with a starting price of $3867 (U.S.) Intergraph Computer Systems also announced support for Intel's Pentium III and Pentium III Xeon 733 MHz processors with 133 MHz front side bus (FSB) technology in follow-on models of the Zx ViZual Workstation family. These higher performing workstations will be launched delivering 64-bit PCI technology.

Future ZX ViZual Workstation models are armed with Intergraph's revolutionary Wahoo technology and powered by Intel's fastest Pentium III and Xeon processors. Intergraph Computer Systems' follow-on model ZX ViZual Workstations based on the Wahoo technology and Intel's new Pentium III and Pentium III Xeon 733 MHz processors will be available in fourth quarter.

MICRON
Four systems are available from Micron, based on the new Pentium III. The new PCs include the Millennia MAX 733, which Micron will offer fully configured for $1,999, and are based on VIA's Apollo Pro 133a chipset, incorporating the latest in bus technologies such as 133 MHz front side bus, AGP 4X and ATA 66. In addition to the Millennia MAX 733, the new Micron systems are the Millennia MAX 667, 600 and 533. Micronpc.com will offer the new systems with nVidia's geForce256 AGP4X graphics accelerator. The geForce256 uses up to 32MB of video memory Micron will also offer the systems with IBM's 34GB hard drive. The new Millennia MAX systems are available for purchase immediately and will begin shipping in November.

QUANTEX
Quantex Microsystems, Inc.has announced the availability of new high-end desktops featuring the Intel Pentium III Processor at speeds up to 733MHz. This new processor can be found in their SM-Series power multimedia systems, GX-Series gaming systems, ZX-Series workstations and QX-Series servers. The Quantex SM733 is a home/office desktop system. Powered by the Intel Pentium III processor at 733MHz, with 128MB of high-performance SDRAM, an nVidia TNT2 AGP graphics and a 19" Diamondtron Natural Flat screen monitor, the SM733 offers optimal performance for web creations, digital imaging and design, and multimedia tasks. As configured, the SM733 starts at $2,699.

TOSHIBA
Equium 7100 The Toshiba Equium 7100 series of commercial desktops are now available with Intel's new 650MHz and 700MHz Pentium III processors. Equium 7100 PCs with Intel 650 & 700MHz processors will begin shipping in early November, 1999. The Equium 7100 series featuring Intel's 650MHz Pentium III processors starts at $1,499 while the Equium 7100 PCs with 700MHz Pentium III processors begins at $1,699.
