Pinnacle Systems Selected to Provide Video Editing Equipment on ip2000 Project Around-the-World Cruise: ReelTime NITRO Offers Shipboard Production Reliable, Flexible Editing Solutions

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., June 20 -- Pinnacle Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: PCLE), a leader in digital video broadcast and production solutions, today announced an agreement with the ip2000 project to provide 24/7 editing services on the ReelTime NITRO system during the around-the-world educational Global Voyage cruise by "PEACE BOAT."

The ip2000 project developed by Takuya Kawai, Producer of Digital Planet (Taiyo Kikaku Co. LTD), offers shipboard lectures and workshops that emphasize active learning through discussion, debate and group project work. The ip2000 project was launched with a 90-day Global Voyage around-the-world cruise that set sail from Tokyo on May 22, 2000. The cruise will reach a total of 17 countries on five continents before returning to Tokyo on August 19, 2000.

The cruise takes place on the Peace Boat, a 15,000-ton, 600-passenger boat run by a Japan-based non-governmental organization seeking to establish a global network among people, grassroots movements and non-governmental organizations working on issues such as peace, human rights, development and the environment.

Pinnacle Systems' ReelTime NITRO is the primary on-board video-editing tool, assisting in the creation of a variety of television programming created from materials shot in the cruise's ports of call. They will be broadcast to media around the world via Inmarsat 64kbps satellite circuit.

For example, a program titled "Dream Catcher" will air on TV channel VaioNeT beginning in July. The project also will offer webcasting on http://ip2000.net/ Web site (with content edited on the ReelTime NITRO), video streaming and an on-board Internet cafe BBS.

"Reliability was primary for this shipboard production, and we're honored that Pinnacle Systems' equipment was chosen for the project," said Mark Sanders, president and CEO of Pinnacle Systems, Inc. "With the ReelTime NITRO editing solution, the ip2000 project producers will be able to edit the video shot at sea quickly and easily, making it possible to broadcast the latest news and activities to ports of call around the world."

"The ip2000 project is a new and challenging voyage that swims with the tide of the broadband Internet revolution," said Takuya Kawai, Producer of Digital Planet. "We are very confident that we can expose the creativity of this new medium with Pinnacle Systems' ReelTime NITRO and its innovative and effective non-linear video editing solution. The system's power of real-time editing will leverage our marine contents' editing and webcasting, offering us every qualification needed for success on this adventurous and unique experience."

The marine editing and Internet broadcasting procedures developed for the ip2000 voyage will be refined and verified for future voyages, on which the ReelTime NITRO also will be used for video editing. Future trips include a 45-day Southern Cross cruise beginning on August 31, and a second around-the-world cruise launching October 15.
